Bamboo fiber = Sustainability

Bamboo is a natural, soft and breathable textile fiber.

Where does Bamboo grow?

Bamboo is a fast growing plant that contains cellulose, it can be grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or defoliants.

Bamboo is a plant whose cultivation has a very low environmental impact and therefore highly sustainable, it survives only with rainwater and therefore does not require irrigation systems.

The cultivations of this plant are also appreciable because they emit a large quantity of oxygen and a very low quantity of carbon dioxide, the harvest takes place approximately every 3 years.

How do you get the textile fiber from the plant?

Bamboo textile fiber is obtained from the stem through a process of alkaline hydrolysis and multi-phase bleaching. That is a phenomenon that leads to the "dissolution" of the material and therefore to the production of the fiber through water. Bleaching, on the other hand, is an important and essential step in the textile manufacturing process, it helps to whiten the textile material by removing unwanted components. Its goal is to remove natural color for ink-jet printing.

The properties of 100% Bamboo fabric:

The Bamboo fiber fabric has multiple properties not to be overlooked:

- It is particularly suitable for being in direct contact with the skin;

- Has the ability to absorb moisture and be naturally antibacterial;

- Thanks to its structure, it makes the fabrics and related garments highly breathable;

- It has a very high capacity to absorb humidity which evaporates three times faster than other fibers, giving freshness for a long time and removing bad smells.

- It boasts an anti-fungal action making it difficult to survive.

All these properties make Bamboo an ideal fabric for accessories, bed linen and underwear as it is extremely soft, hygroscopic, anti-mycotic and fresh.

How Bamboo reacts to ink-jet printing

Well yes, as well as having all the characteristics listed above, Bamboo lends itself to being printed in ink-jet technology with our Monnalisa machines.

In the management of the print, the bamboo fabric stands out from others, for the ease of ironing and in the production phase of the collections also in the fastness to the print, the Bamboo fiber acquires splendid chromatic effects for brightness and intensity.
